XM

XMTrading offers three main account types.

XM Account

  • Standard and Micro Accounts where you can receive Deposit Bonuses and XMP (Loyalty Program)
  • KIWAMI Extreme Account with no bonuses or XMP, but extremely narrow spreads
  • Zero Account which is a low-spread specialized paid account with no bonuses or XMP

In conclusion, if you prioritize trading costs, the 'KIWAMI Extreme Account' is highly recommended.

However, it is perfectly fine to use the Standard or Micro accounts while you can still receive the Deposit Bonus.

XM KIWAMI Extreme Account

XM

This is the newest account type among XM accounts,
and currently the most recommended to use as your main account.

Merits of the KIWAMI Extreme Account

Overwhelmingly Low Spreads and High Leverage

Since it is a spread-specialized account with no trading fees,
the effective spread is the narrowest among all XM account types.

Furthermore, despite the low spreads, the maximum leverage is the same 1,000x as the Standard account.
There are almost no flaws regarding trading conditions.

There are overseas FX brokers with narrower spreads than XM's KIWAMI Extreme account, but this is a trade-off with XM's safety and reliability.

Top Class for Bitcoin FX Trading

XM's KIWAMI Extreme account has a Bitcoin (BTCUSD) spread almost fixed at $30.

This is quite a narrow level even in the entire overseas FX market,
and on top of that, the leverage for BTCUSD is 500x.

XM started as a forex broker,
but its capital efficiency for Bitcoin FX has grown to the strongest level among all brokers.

XM's cryptocurrency trading was released once before its current form, but it had a dark history of being temporarily abolished because weekend trading was impossible and spreads were too wide.

Demerits of the KIWAMI Extreme Account

The only weakness of the KIWAMI Extreme account is that it is not eligible for XM's main attractions: 'Deposit Bonus' and 'XMP (Loyalty Program)'.

So the question arises: which is more profitable, the Standard account where you can get XMP, or the KIWAMI Extreme account which inherently has narrow spreads?

New Loyalty Program (XMP) and Effective Spread Comparison

In December 2025, XMTrading's Loyalty Program was significantly renewed.

Previously, anyone could reach the highest rank just by accumulating 'trading days',
but the new rules emphasize 'trading volume'.

Item Old Rules New Rules
Rank Condition Trading Days Quarterly Trading Volume
Point Generation Hold over 10 mins Hold over 5 mins
Number of Ranks 4 Levels 5 Levels
Bronze to Elite

The good point is that 'the condition for point generation was shortened from 10 minutes to 5 minutes'.
This makes it easier to earn points even with scalping-like trades.

The bad point (or rather, stricter point) is that 'trading volume (Lots)' is now required to rank up.
To reach the highest rank 'Elite', you need to trade about 3,000 Lots ($300 million equivalent) in a quarter (3 months),
which is quite a high hurdle for general traders.

Status Required Volume
3 Months
XMP per 1 Lot
Bronze None 10 XMP
Silver $2M+
Approx. 20 Lots+
Up to 12.5 XMP
Gold $10M+
Approx. 100 Lots+
Up to 15 XMP
Platinum $50M+
Approx. 500 Lots+
Up to 20 XMP
Elite $300M+
Approx. 3,000 Lots+
Up to 30 XMP

Even the Highest Rank 'Elite' 'Basically' Cannot Beat KIWAMI Extreme

Let's compare the effective cost when trading 1 lot of USDJPY,
assuming that XMP is exchanged for highly rewarding 'Credit (Bonus)' instead of cash to be used for trading.

The exchange rate for bonus credit is: XMP ÷ 3 = Equivalent in USD

  • Standard Account Spread: 2.4 pips (Average)
  • KIWAMI Extreme Account Spread: 0.7 pips (Average)
  • Elite Rank Return: 30 XMP (per 1 Lot)

30 XMP ÷ 3 = $10 credit return.
Converting this to pips equals a return of about 1.0 pip.

Account Type Displayed Spread XMP Return Effective Spread
Standard
Elite Rank
2.4 pips -1.0 pip 1.4 pips
KIWAMI Extreme 0.7 pips None 0.7 pips

In this way, for USDJPY, even if you reach the highest Elite rank and fully utilize XMP, it is cheaper to use the KIWAMI Extreme Account from the start.

If your rank is Bronze or Silver, the gap widens further.
Therefore, if you prioritize 'narrow spreads' and 'total trading costs', choosing the KIWAMI Extreme Account is the right answer.

On the other hand, for certain currency pairs like EURUSD,
the effective spread of the Standard Account at the ELITE rank can actually surpass or equal the KIWAMI account.
Thus, for currency pairs with inherently low spreads, there is value in using the Standard Account.

Is There Value in Using the Standard/Micro Accounts?

The Standard Account has a weapon that the KIWAMI Extreme account lacks: the 'Deposit Bonus'.

Boost Your Margin with Deposit Bonus + XMP

Especially while your deposit amount is under $500, a 100% deposit bonus is generated,
so it is standard practice to receive the deposit bonus using the Standard or Micro account.

If you deposit $500, it becomes $1,000 in margin including the credit,
which dramatically increases your chances of avoiding a stop-out (zero cut).

Furthermore, by exchanging accumulated XMP for credit, you can 'increase your margin without using cash'.
If your style is not scalping for a few pips, but rather 'utilizing bonuses to aim for large price movements in day trading to swing trading', the combination of the Standard account + XMP is powerful.

Since the bonus grant rate drops to 20% when the deposit amount exceeds $500, it is an option to switch to the KIWAMI Extreme Account from there on.

As mentioned earlier, for low-spread currency pairs like EURUSD, the effective spread including XMP can rival the KIWAMI account, so the Standard Account is highly usable depending on the currency pair.

Standard Account is Excellent for Cryptocurrencies and Nikkei 225

While the spreads for forex are inferior to the KIWAMI Extreme account,
CFD instruments like Bitcoin (BTCUSD) and Nikkei 225 (JP225) have sufficiently excellent spread settings even on the Standard account.

Because these have high volatility,
the merit of 'being able to increase margin maintenance rate = avoiding zero cuts with deposit bonuses' often outweighs the narrowness of the spread.

XM Zero Account

The Zero account has almost no merits compared to the KIWAMI Extreme account.

  • Round-trip trading fees are charged, making the effective spread wider than the KIWAMI Extreme account.
  • Maximum leverage is limited to 500x.
  • Not eligible for XMP or Deposit Bonuses.
  • Cannot trade cryptocurrencies.

Merits of the XM Zero Account

If I must point one out, it comes down to the following:

  • Overseas FX trading fees can be recorded as expenses for tax purposes.

If you do not mind the hassle of calculating trading fees, you can compress your profits more than with the KIWAMI Extreme account when filing tax returns.
(The fee itself can be easily calculated from the 'Monthly Statement' email sent every month.)

However, if you have enough funds to require such tax measures, you might as well use domestic FX with separate taxation.
Therefore, the Zero account remains a subtle choice for the vast majority of users.

Conclusion: KIWAMI is Strong, but Bonuses are Attractive

With the changes to the new Loyalty Program and the introduction of the KIWAMI Extreme account, the role of each account has become clear.

Trading Style Recommended Account
Mainly Scalping
Want to minimize costs
KIWAMI Extreme Account
Prioritizing spreads over XMP is correct
High Leverage for Big Wins
Want to increase margin with bonuses
Standard Account
Secure margin with Deposit Bonus and XMP
Mainly CFD Trading
Nikkei 225, Gold, etc.
Standard Account
Bonuses are effective due to high volatility
Special EA or Tax Expense Needs
Requires 0 spread environment
Zero Account
Unsuitable for discretionary trading

Using the Standard account aimlessly just because 'you get XMP' will make you lose in costs.

The optimal solution for conquering XM currently is to clearly define your purpose and use them selectively:
'Standard Account to get bonuses' and 'KIWAMI Extreme Account to lower costs'.
